A Galaxy 4 replacement waterbed mattress bladder will fit inside your existing 8" deep fill softside waterbed foam cavity. Four layers of polyester fiber reduces motion, while lumbar fiber layers provide additional support where you need it most. Extra lumbar support is a must if you suffer from back pain.
We recommend that when you purchase your new softside waterbed mattress bladder that you add Blue Magic Waterbed Conditioner at the time of filling. By properly conditioning your waterbed mattress each year you protect the vinyl, fiber and foam. Waterbed Conditioner also controls odor causing gases and slime forming bacteria.

This is my fourth replacement bladder over more than 20 years. The water bed is the perfect solution for me. However, this bladder has marked a significant change in how Boyd does business.
1 - The bladder arrived in a burst box. Boyd never responded to all contact attempts.
2 - The bladder appeared ok so I used it and it has no leaks. It is made of significantly thinner plastic, compared to the previous bladder which seems twice the thickness. It is probably the reason for #3.
3 - I live in a low humidity environment ( can't really see how this should make a difference but maybe...) and have found that more than 500 ml of water evaporates every two weeks. This has been going on for over several years. This summer has been extremely humid, and still find I need to add a liter of water to keep my low back from aching. I'm not happy with this and will look at other brands when I need ( or get tired of adding water...) to replace this bladder. (Posted on 9/8/2022) - Exactly like the original Review by Frank

We needed to replace the bladder due to the baffles shifting. We replaced the heater about a year ago and when we drained it we messed them up. This was an exact replacement for the complete bed purchased about 12 years ago. Extremely happy so far and it was cheaper than amazon!

I've had the Boyd flotation system for many years. After 11 years with my current system and several moves it was time to replace the old bladder and I'm sleeping great again on my new bladder.. You can't replace a conventional mattress with that many years in between and never for the price of the new bladder. (Posted on 11/14/2018) - So far ok Review by Lacey

This bladder replaced the exact same one purchased in 2013. The first one only lasted 5 years before we woke up one day to a wet cover. I have never had one last such a short amount of time or leak for no apparent reason. My prior beds were all from Waterbed City, so this is my first Boyd. I paid full price for the replacement and was not offered a “prorated” replacement even though this one says the warranty is for 11 years, so I am not even sure how that is supposed to work. They looked up my initial order for me so they knew it was a replacement. It shipped and arrived fairly quick even though they have to manufacture them after you order and are not a stocked item. I didn’t receive shipping tracking info until about a week or two after actually receiving the bed. They do say they provide the info, but this is my third orde from Boyd and I have never received any prior to this order. Like I said it came considerably after receiving the item so pointless. I hope this bladder lasts longer than the first. It is comfortable once you get the right adjustment on the amount of water. This was the least expensive option for me for replacement at the unexpected time of the leak. I will probably not replace it with another waterbed.
